small,

motocross racing, and has been mountainbiking for ten years.
Jacky, who
is back up guide, caterer and first aider, has been biking for
six years.
Mark, who also competes in races, has twice been runner up in

HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?
Someone who rides their bike most weekends and is an enthusiastic
cyclist with a good sense of adventure.
CAN I BRING MY OWN BIKE?
Yes, in fact 99% of our riders from within Europe choose to bring
their own
scoots. Check with the Travel Agent as sometimes there is a
charge for
travelling with your bike. You can hire or buy a bike bag, obtain
a bike box
from a shop and/or get them to pack it away for you, or simply
deflate the
tyres, turn the bars and pedals in and wrap some pipe lagging
(DIY Centre)
around the frame and components.
WHAT ABOUT AIRPORT TRANSFERS?
This is included in the price as long as you arrange your arrival and
departure times for midday Saturday to Saturday. A representative will meet
you at the airport with a mini-bus kitted out for carrying bikes.
WE HAVE SOME NON M.B. FRIENDS - CAN THEY COME TOO?
Non biking guests are most welcome. Mecina - Fondales is an ideal
place to
unwind and relax. Everyone can regroup in the evenings.
Discounted rates
for non biking guests. See price list.
WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT LUNCH?
Normally we try and stop at a restaurant or village bar with
food. On some
remote rides we take packed lunches.
WHAT ABOUT MEDICAL INSURANCE?
For UK citizens, local hospitals recognise the E111 form as an
immediate
acceptance for European medical treatment. This form is available
from,
your local Post Office.
DO I NEED TO RIDE EVERY DAY?
You can choose when you want to ride and when you want to take a
day
off. We tailor the stay to suit you.
DESCRIBE A TYPICAL DAY?
We normally start the ride at around ten o´clock, this gives you
ample time
to have breakfast before setting out. A guide will lead the way
ahead with a
guide at the rear. This way if the group splits up, there is less
chance of
riders getting lost. We regroup at regular intervals. Along the
route we can
pick out points of interest and maybe give some tuition in
techniques
required on this terrain. Normally, a lunchtime stop after a
climb and then a
descent back into Mecina - Fondales, a dip in the pool and relax
before your
evening meal is served. Maybe a visit to the local bar in the
evening
discussing the days adventures and planning tomorrow.
WHY GUIDED RIDES?
You will understand the necessity for guiding whenyou are here,
with a
labyrinth of trails and crossroads around the mountainside.
Unlike cycling
along road routes, where journeys can be plotted from a reliable
map. off
road mountain biking is different discipline in that there are
very little
marked routes to follow, and few publications covering this area-
Our
knowledge of routes has been accumulated over many years, and
we pride ourselves in being able to show you a wide range of
challenging
scenic rides far away from the beaten tourist tracks that you
would
otherwise fail to encounter without guided assistance. We know
the best
lunch stops, the best overnight stops when required, and besides
that, it´s
fun to ride with people with the same interests who have local
knowledge
and can take the hassle out of organising trips. All you need to
do is turn
up, ride and have fun.
DO YOU HAVE VEHICLE BACKUP?
Yes, we use the vehicle backup on some steep climbs and to travel
further
afield to different locations.
WHEN ARE YOU OPEN?
We live here, and we are open all year round.

Transfer to and from Airport. Private accommodation in a
renovated Spanish Cortijo with use of pool, within a rural
mountain village.
